I had to take one of my dogs in as an emergency with a possible broken bone, the Byron practice were great but unfortunately there was only one vet in that day so they gave her meds and sent me to the Long Eaton practice. Arrived at the Long Eaton practice, I cannot complain about the treatment they looked after her well, the staff here were also lovely and friendly and informative. I received a large bill to find out her leg / foot is severely bruised and not broken, not a problem I expected it paid it and left happy.
I made an appointment for a few days later before leaving for a check up as the vet requested, didn't query it as it's standard after treatment that they follow up with a check up done it many times before.
We went for the check up she was seen quickly, I was asked if she was ok, which she was and he looked at her leg without touching her. We were in there probably 2-3 mins at most. He told me to make an appointment for the following Monday, which this time I didn't as I didn't think it was necessary and would ring to make one if I was concerned as she was already like nothing happened other than being a little tender, now I am glad I didn't.
Two weeks later (Today) I get an email with a statement no biggie my horse vet sends them out periodically. I glance over it to see I have been charged for the follow up £45. I rang and apparently they charge for all visits regardless. This is new to me I've had and have a lot of animals of all types made many visits to various vets and have never been charged for the follow up visit, never. I've quizzed a few of my friends and none of them have ever experienced a charge for a follow up visit before. I honestly feel while I have no complaints about the care of my dog, and the staff being lovely and friendly, I was seriously unhappy with this charge, I felt it was just a way to make more money. I'm so glad I didn't make the third visit.
I don't think I will use them again unfortunately.
