More training needed in manners.
When calling an out of hours emergency vet, you would expect compassion. However, yesterday morning the lady I spoke to on the phone was very disrespectful. If you've ever seen an animal struggling to breathe, you know they're struggling and not 'reverse sneezing' as was suggested to me. Originally she misheard me and thought I was talking about a dog, when the mistake was noticed and she understood I was talking about a pet duck, her response was 'A duck? I don't know what we'll do with 'it' but bring 'it' in.' I appreciate not all vets are experienced in waterfowl, but I would at least expect a response somewhere along the lines of; 'Ducks aren't something we usually treat, but we'll see what we can do/how we can help.'
When strongly expressing that a pet is clearly struggling to breathe and will die without help, you expect kindness and compassion. She failed.
