About

DS McGregor and Partners is an independent mixed animal practice based in Thurso, serving the Caithness and Sutherland area of the Scottish Highlands since 1965. The practice covers pets, horses and farm animals with twenty-four-hour availability year-round.

The practice became employee-owned in 2023, ensuring it remains independent and locally run. This ownership structure means staff with direct knowledge of the Highland farming and pet-owning community make decisions about how the practice operates. DS McGregor has maintained its independent status throughout its nearly sixty-year history.

Well we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Maisie last week. DS Mcgregors Veterinary Surgery in Thurso were absolutely amazing and travelled over 27 Miles to Euthanize Maisie at home where she would not stress, she was happy eating all the pork joint before snoring her head off. Cara the vet didn't rush , took her time and made the experience one ill never forget and be thankful for. We have never experienced anything like it with any of our dogs or cats before and one we will always cherish. She made something that was so traumatic into something that gave us calm and piece of mind. An outstanding service!!

This practice gives a 100 percent💯 to the care and aftercare of all animals. We were so impressed by Guy Gordon Veterinary surgeon who operated on our small Chihuahua Ellies back leg.Today she can run, skip and literally sit up and balance on them for hours asking for treats 😊 and it's all thanks to this professional and caring practice. The whole team is amazing... High five ✋

Visited the vets in Thurso a few times with my animals and have to say I was waiting at the front desk for a considerable amount of time while the reception could clearly see I was waiting to be addressed, however they continued with their tea and cake. Perhaps some frosted glass is required to hide from waiting customers. When a reception staff eventually took notice of me waiting they were extremely blunt and rude. Not the sort of greeting you expect from such a professional and “famous” vets surgery.
