Substandard service. I have been with this vet practice for over 10 years. Over the last couple of years I’ve felt that the service from one vet in particular is lacking. This was proven yesterday. I do not like to name and shame, however if you’re thinking of using this veterinary practice and see negative posts, there is a very good reason for this. You will see one vets name in particular that is brought up a lot - this vet is always available and there is a very good reason for this - I would not recommend using him under any circumstances. I am in the process of moving my dogs to another practice. Yesterday my dog hurt his nail and was bleeding slightly. Sometimes because you’re worried about your pet you don’t see the obvious when you’re in with the vet. He was prescribed antibiotics, etc but I was not given any advice on aftercare or advised that he was likely to bleed more as it seems the vet tried to remove his nail. When we returned home and my dog started walking he was dripping with blood - prior to going to the vets the bleed was very slight. So to say I was unhappy is an understatement. The main issue is I was not informed that he actually tried to remove the nail and that this could cause additional bleeding. Added to the fact that no wound care was offered or suggested. Separately too - My daughter has a puppy who she took to see this same vet about 6 weeks ago as he had an allergy and problems with his ears - the puppy was given a steroid injection and sent away. When I called to complain that the puppy wasn’t examined properly etc, I was told I would have to pay another consultation fee? My daughter moved vets and recently discovered that her puppy has a yeast infection causing the issue with his ears - they did a simple test during the appointment and he now has the correct medication to help remedy this. I wish I’d moved vets at the same time, please take this as a warning!

My review is based on one vet - Max. Reception staff would get 5 stars. I booked an appointment with a vet after my cat suddenly became very unwell. A previous blood screening visit had ruled out a lot of causes but I wanted a follow up to understand the cause as my cat’s behaviour was extremely distressing for him and myself. The appointment was the last of the day. Max did not want to be there. He didn’t want to listen to my concerns or descriptions of the issue and most apparently, he just didn’t care. A flash in the eye with his iPhone was enough to diagnose neurological issues. This was alarming to hear and I desperately wanted to understand what this meant - was there any treatment? Max turned his back for the latter half of the appointment clearly indicating he wasn’t going to do or say any more. I got an ‘I’m sorry’ as I left which I could only assume meant the worst (I had to assume after being given no clarification). I cried constantly over the following days preparing myself for the inevitable. Someone at work heard me and suggested I go to another vet (having left this vets in the past with their own issues with them). Here’s where I saw what should happen in an appointment: taking time to talk, listen, thorough examination with proper equipment (i.e.not an iPhone ) even drawing me diagrams to understand their diagnosis. Thankfully the diagnosis was very different, treatable!! I can’t express the impact this poor experience had on my life. Needless sadness and worry. If you are looking for a vet, don’t take the risk. Go to another vet.
