We recently noticed our Basset Hound had developed a cloudy eye. Our usual vets referred us to Focus Referrals, where we met Mark, who confirmed it was a cataract. He talked us through all the options and helped us understand the long-term implications of treatment versus no treatment. Because of the risk of glaucoma, we felt surgery was the right decision, and Mark carried it out with excellent results so far. It’s now been a month since the operation and we’re really pleased we went ahead. The aftercare has been intense, so booking time off work turned out to be ideal. We were also reassured that any concerns could be emailed in, and the team genuinely meant it, they monitor the inbox closely. When we needed advice, Mark responded quickly with both a call and an email, which really helped us get our dog’s inflammation under control. The veterinary nurses have also been fantastic throughout. They were understanding, attentive, and always patient when we had questions. During what can be an overwhelming period of multiple medications and strict routines, their calm reassurance made a real difference. Focus also provides very helpful printed guides to track medications and eye drop schedules, which has been invaluable in keeping everything organised during recovery. We were worried about whether insurance would pay out, but the admin team at Focus were fantastic. They raised the claim for us and explained the process clearly. They were efficient, prompt, and really supportive through what is always a stressful time. Surgery is never an easy decision, but looking back, we’re very grateful to have been referred to Focus and to Mark. We feel reassured that our Basset’s long-term eye health is in excellent hands. Thank you to the whole team.
