A K
I would like to thank Glasgow Equine Hospital & Practice for the compassion, professionalism, and kindness shown during my horse’s end-of-life care. The attending vet, Albert, came out just before the end of his regular shift, and from the moment I booked the call-out the practice responded quickly and supportively. I never once felt rushed, which meant more than I can express in such a difficult moment. As soon as the fracture was diagnosed, pain relief was administered immediately to ease my horse’s discomfort. Albert carefully monitored her distress throughout and took every appropriate step to minimise it. I was given all the time I needed with my horse before I was ready for humane euthanasia. During and after the procedure, Albert took the time to explain the nature of the injury and why no treatment was feasible, helping me understand and feel confident that the right decision was being made. Afterwards, he stayed with me to ensure any questions or doubts were answered and gently guided me through the next steps, including post-procedure arrangements. This was one of the hardest experiences I’ve ever faced. I am deeply grateful for the care we received, the time I was given to come to terms with the situation, and the opportunity to hold my beloved horse. The empathy, patience, and respect shown made an unbearable moment more manageable. 💔
