I can’t thank Gertie enough for the care she gave my rat, Maggie. She was one of the kindest and most compassionate professionals I’ve ever met. We had been dealing with a long and difficult health issue, and when it became clear that euthanasia was the kindest option, Gertie handled everything with such gentleness and respect. She explained things clearly, never rushed me, and made an incredibly painful decision feel supported and dignified. I was able to hold Maggie while she passed, and that meant the world to me. Gertie treated her not “just as a rat,” but as a deeply loved member of my family. I will always be grateful for the empathy, honesty and care she showed us during such a hard moment.
