If I could give 0 I would. We gave vets now £350 and our bunny and came away with a more poorly boy then he went in. It’s taken me a long time to write this review and I wish I had written it sooner to help others avoid as I have recently heard from others that these vets are still making these careless mistakes. In May 2024 my house rabbit Benji fell poorly with GI stasis, we took him to our daytime vet where we saw our amazing rabbit expert who told us we had caught it super early and it would be treatable overnight. She sent us to vets now Winchester with a very good list of what they needed to do for Benji so everything was clear. Whilst in the waiting room me and my friend believed Benji had passed as he wasn’t moving or reactive. We expressed this concern and neither the receptionist or the vet came over to check or so much as asked if we were okay, luckily Benji had not passed although he was very flat. We were finally called in by the vet who didn’t seem to know a thing about rabbits, she didn’t assess him in the room, the only question she asked was “what does Benji like to eat and we will give it to him” we told her a list and they didn’t even have basic rabbit food to offer so why she asked that question I don’t know. She took him out the back asked for payment and sent us on our way expressing we would hear from them soon. Benjis usual vet had given a list stating they needed to give him IV fluids, Critical care and do blood tests all of which they charged us for. The next morning we went to collect him and they told us he was eating as normal and seemed fine, that the receptionist had been monitoring him NOT A VET! And she had given him apples and carrots which have far too much sugar for a rabbit when they are poorly and should only be given in small amounts when they are well. We took him home and he was even worse than the day before, he wouldn’t eat, drink or move so we rushed him back to our daytime vet who said he had little to no gut sound, funny shaped kidneys and needed an urgent referral to great western exotics. We immediately took him to great western, he crashed in the waiting room after his stomach had doubled in size, he was extremely dehydrated and had a huge cecal impaction all missed by vets now. 6 days and thousands of pounds later after extensive tests and treatment Benji came home but has had long term kidney and liver issues ever since costing us money and him quality of life. By vet recommendation we requested the medical records from the night he spent at vets now Winchester, which confirmed they hadn’t given him IV fluids, critical care or done the bloods we had paid for. It has been confirmed to us by multiple vets that Benji was made significantly worse by the negligence at Vets now Winchester and would not have the problems he has today if they had bothered to care. They had simply left him with a receptionist to die. We have since reported all of this to head office to which we got a basic answer trying to justify their actions. We won’t stop fighting them on this and after multiple people have told me they have had scarily similar issues with these vets I decided to write this to help others avoid. As somebody that works with animals I can not believe the level of neglect this “veterinary surgery” gets away with. Avoid at all costs!
