If I could leave zero stars I would. Horrible vet (Hassan Salamian)! He almost overdosed my mouse by 10x a medication (0.4ml of metacam vs 0.04ml). From the onset Hassan was dismissive of me and my concerns about my mouse. He wouldn't listen when I tried to explain my concerns or when I tried to answer the questions he asked me. It seemed to me he felt he was above treating rodents. He also ignored me when i said my mouse has never bitten in her life, and he tried to make a joke about no one poking her with needles before. When it came to treatment, he said and did multiple things that were concerning to me, including reusing the same needle on my mouse multiple times, rinsing her in a surgical spirit, which when I asked if he knew if it was safe for her (and her sisters) to groom off he said "I don't know, let's dilute her". He then told me to rinse my mouse under the sink in cold water. Mice are extremely prone to hypothermia, and he should know if the items he's using on my animal are safe for her to consume. Furthermore he asked why I bought her sisters along to the appointment, mice are social animals so will be incredibly stressed if separated. The vet also told me to put my mouse on an icepack. This would trigger torpor in my mouse and could potentially kill her. Finally, when it came to dosing medication, the initial dosage was wrong by a factor of ten! I queried the volume of medication, having previously medicated my mice with similar medicines, and they had the gall to suggest that the printer had managed to miss a zero. The dosing mistake was 0.4ml of metacam compared to the actual 0.04ml. 0.4ml of metacam is the dosage used for rats, a massive error for a vet to be making. They then stuck a new prescription sticker over the previous one to hide their mistake. If not for my querying I would've been overdosing my mouse by a significant amount. I am concerned if he has this attitude with other rodent owners and had I not given my mice medicine in the past i would've been inclined to believe the dosage recommended to me. This is a huge concern. I will not be returning to this practice due to the multiple complaints outlined above and I hope you will get back to me due to the severity of them. I will actively tell other pet owners to avoid the branch and will be leaving reviews outlining my experience everywhere. I was charged £112 for inadequate service, including over medicating! I had a far better experience in the Winnersh Vets4Pets, where i received excellent service from Abbie and for significantly cheaper! I would never recommend the Reading branch to any pet owners.
