Alex the vet was very gentle and kind treating my rather nervous cockapoo, when visiting for his annual check and boosters. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming too. Have used this practice for decades and wouldn't go anywhere else.

I visited Silverton with my 10 week old Cavapoo puppy for her 2nd vaccination because my usually vet didn’t stock the same vaccine my new puppy had from breeder vet ..I was told by Silverton they could order it in ! when we arrived they told me they couldn’t get it either ! The vet (Alex) then proceeded to ask if my new puppy was insured and who with before he even examined her ! I was then told she needed urgent dental surgery to remove all 4 canine teeth and that it had to be done within a week at the cost of over £1000 !! He was extremely persistent and very hard sell and insisted I take pain meds even though my pup is eating playing sleeping really well and showing no signs of trauma or pain! I told him I wanted time to process what he had said but he was relentless and wanted me to agree to pre authorise from my insures I felt massively pressured! Needless to say I couldn’t get out of there quick enough and took her to my regular vet on the way home who advised this was not necessary the pup needed just monitoring and at most one tooth to be extracted at a later date if it didn’t fall out naturally as puppy teeth do !! I’m disgusted that he could put a 10 week old puppy under general anaesthetic purely for financial gain! Any good vet would avoid this unless absolutely necessary and or if the puppy was displaying symptoms of pain which she clearly wasn’t he kept poking and prodding her mouth which she clearly didn’t like ! I felt traumatised leaving there ! I’ve had pets all my life and never have I had such a negative experience ! Avoid at all cost they don’t have your animals best interests at heart it’s all about how much money they can get out of you !! Shame on you Silverton vets ! I wouldn’t give them 1 star zero wasn’t an option ! I will certainly be reporting this to governing bodies !

I was appalled because I telephoned the practice half an hour before they closed and was turned away even though I was only 15 minutes away from them at the most. I said my pet was crying in pain and they told me to wait another half an hour and call the out of hours vet. Even worse, they had already seen my pet two days prior and given him a clean bill of health. If I could award no stars I would. Such callousness, unbelievable. As a human being I would not “clock off” on the minute I closed especially with the fees charged, not to mention a pet crying in pain which had already been misdiagnosed by the practice..
