About

South Downs Emergency Vets in Chichester is a purpose-built out-of-hours emergency veterinary service covering West Sussex. Part of the Vets4Pets group, it operates from a purpose-built veterinary hospital and provides emergency and critical care when regular daytime practices are closed.

The service is open to all pet owners regardless of where they are registered during the day. A day team provides continuity of care following overnight treatment, meaning patients can remain on site without being transferred. The practice operates independently of daytime referring surgeries, giving owners a choice in their emergency provider.

Thank you for the amazing care our dog Tillie received on saturday. From the moment we dropped her of to when we were able to pick her up that evening she was so well looked after and we were kept informed throughout the day, we couldn't ask for a better service. We also have the emergency+ cover so this gives us peace of mind out of hours!

I bought my dog Biscuit in after he ate a mince pie...grrrrr, at about 9.30pm. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Biscuit was dealt with swiftly and kindly, and thankfully regurgitated the pie without any trouble. Really good service and payment was dealt with in an understanding manner as I did not have the full amount until the next day. Highly recommend South Downs Emergency Vets although I hope you don't need to.

I called South Downs for advice very late Weds night when my 15 year old dog Poppy was vomiting so much she became unable to settle or hold down water and was getting increasingly wobbly. The nurse on the phone was amazing, listened without rushing me and was so reassuring. I was very tearful when I phoned but I immediately felt in good hands and she advised me to come in. When I got there the vet nurses were wonderful to me and my dog. The vet was caring, knowledgeable, reassuring, ran some blood tests and gave her an anti sickness drug and talked through all my options for admittance or not and my worries. Every possibility the sickness could be was talked through with her - it was so helpful. Even though I ended up taking her home that night with some medication I felt incredibly reassured that they were there and were very happy to have her back if needed. Two days later Poppy is bright eyed and bushy tailed and is eating and doing well. I am so grateful to the whole wonderful caring team.
