About

The Lowestoft Vet is an independent practice in Lowestoft treating small animals, exotics, and farm animals. Services include cardiology, emergency care, laboratory diagnostics, and surgical procedures. The practice operates from purpose-built premises on Barnards Way.

Notably, The Lowestoft Vet runs its own 24-hour out-of-hours emergency service rather than outsourcing to a third-party provider. This means registered clients are seen by the practice's own team at any hour, which is relatively uncommon among independent practices of this size.

When my cat suddenly became very poorly, I was understandably devastated and anxious. From the moment I brought him in, Kate was absolutely amazing. She took the time to clearly explain all the options available and was completely honest about the costs involved, allowing me to make informed decisions without ever feeling pressured. My cat needed to be hospitalised for four days, which was incredibly distressing for me. However, I was able to visit him, which meant so much. Kate went above and beyond by calling me every morning and evening with updates, providing reassurance during a very worrying time. Once he was stabilised, she carefully talked me through the long-term management of his condition and the next steps, making sure I felt confident and supported moving forward. All the staff at the clinic are so friendly and genuinely caring. You can tell they truly love what they do. The receptionist even submitted my insurance claim for me, which was one less thing to worry about during an already stressful time. I really couldn’t recommend this practice highly enough. Thank you to Kate and the whole team for the compassion, honesty, and exceptional care you gave my cat.

We switched vets around 6-8 months ago after being dissatisfied with our local surgery & how both our dog & us were dealt with. Our dog is by no means easy when it comes to vet visits but it has been made so much easier & less stressful since moving to The Lowestoft Vets for us all. They’ve listened to our handling protocol perfectly which is the biggest thing for us as he isn’t very tolerant at all of being touched or handled by strangers. They’ve really been understanding, supportive & everyone we’ve encountered at the practice has been friendly, professional & welcoming. We’ve seen both Joe (out of hours emergency & Kate for some tests & a mass removal today) They are so incredibly knowledgable, nothing is too much to explain to you & they’re such lovely people! We’ve been able to finally start to build positivity around visits whilst our dog is listened to & we can’t recommend the team enough. A huge thank you for everything you do.

I can't put into words how amazing Joe, Kate, Andrew & all of the team are! If you're looking for a vets where they treat your pet like one of their own then look no further. Our little girl became really unwell suddenly & went downhill rapidly, Joe put us at ease that we did the right thing bringing her in the middle of the night & the team did everything they could giving us every option along the way and regular updates. Sadly we did everything we could but we had to say goodbye to our little lady, every single member of staff made us feel so at ease with the whole process, gave us plenty of time to say goodbye & we weren't rushed out even though it had gone way past their closing time. Every quote we were given for our dogs care was reasonable but on arrival to pay it was less than what we expected, where at our previous vets we were quoted a price & it was £1k more with no warning. I'm so glad we know first hand how outstanding this practise is and when the time is right & we get another furr baby we know where we'll be coming back straight away 🫶
