About

The Visiting Vet Company is an independent mobile veterinary service for dogs and cats across Harrogate, North Leeds, Ilkley, Wetherby and surrounding areas. Services include vaccinations, palliative care, long-term illness management and pet health plans, all delivered in the home.

The practice has a particular focus on home euthanasia, offering planned and often same-day appointments to allow pets to remain in familiar surroundings. When home-based treatment is not sufficient, the service provides independent referral advice and can arrange onward specialist care.

Jess was absolutely brilliant when we had to make the terrible decision that our 18.5 year old gorgeous cat was struggling with quality of life, and declining health. Jess was compassionate, caring , professional and make this awful decision the best it could be. Jess explained what would happen, and we were able to allow our beautiful cat to just gently go in to a deep sleep on his favourite sofa . There was no pain, and the whole process was gentle and kind. Once Jess confirmed that his heart had stopped whilst we stroked him all the way through, she carefully wrapped him in his own blanket and carried him out in a special box. We will miss him forever but we really are grateful that we got to chose how and where he ended his days. Thank you for the care you gave Tamba ๐Ÿ’™.

I definitely recommend Jess (and Lynne) and wish I had found them sooner - we used Visiting Vet for about 4/5 months. When our cat, Fred, began to see a vet monthly for solensia and was fairly wobbly with her arthritis, she was often sick in the car and got fairly anxious at the vets. (I also found I saw a different vet each visit and they were fairly dismissive of my concerns). I asked Jess to assess Fred, which she did thoroughly, and she listened to my concerns and offered advice. It is priceless having her watch your pet move around their own space, and watch them eat - it helps inform her so much better than a quick 15 minute chat at a practice. She offered me far more support for Fred than the practice had been doing - and it worked out only a few pounds extra than what I was already paying. Lynne came and gave Fred her solensia every month - all while Fred stayed sleeping in her bed - easy! I did ask Jess a fair amount of questions and I appreciate it's difficult to juggle admin alongside the practical work when self-employed, so there were a couple of delays back and forth, but nothing problematic. It became clear Fred was close to the end and Jess immediately understood and was very prompt in arranging to come round, she also waited to ensure my husband was back to say goodbye. Her demeanour is so kind and understanding, it didn't feel odd to have her there at such a vulnerable and sad time. I cannot recommend enough having a vet visit you in your home, it's miles better - especially at the end.

We cannot thank Jess enough for the care she gave to our beloved Flyn. She was compassionate, knowledgeable, and cared for him with real humility right up to his passing โ€” and afterwards as well. During such a painful and emotional time, she brought calmness and dignity to the experience. We are incredibly grateful to Jess. It is difficult to fully express the impact her kindness and compassion had on us during this time. Because of her, we didnโ€™t have to take Flyn โ€” who had been such an important part of our lives for 10 years โ€” to a cold, unfamiliar place. He was able to pass peacefully in familiar surroundings, in the home where he had been happy and where he had shared in so many of our family moments. In his final moments, he was calm and content, enjoying something he loved. He was so peaceful, and that means everything to us. Jess made an incredibly difficult experience more bearable, and we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her to anyone needing compassionate, professional care.
