About

Wombourne Veterinary Centre is a companion animal practice in the Wolverhampton area, part of the IVC Evidensia group. It provides cardiology, dental care, emergency treatment, grooming, diagnostic imaging, laboratory work, microchipping, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, surgery, vaccinations, and pet passport services for small animals and exotics.

The practice operates under the Island Veterinary Centre umbrella, which has been open as a small animal surgery for over forty years. Nurse-led clinics and nutrition consultations are available. The pricing structure is designed to keep costs lower for complex treatments and procedures rather than focusing on consultation fees alone.

All staff are friendly, helpful and their priority is always the animals. I would always recommend Island Veterinary Care.

I have used the vets since 2018 and found them excellent in the early days. However, over the past few years the service has declined and I have found the turnover of Vets and the use of varying Locum’s an issue and the pricing policy through the roof. Issues with charges and shockingly high prescription price of £33 after a consultation was far from reasonable and the surgery and consultation rooms are very tired. In the finish I chose to take my tired boy to a different veterinary services with a vet that had been in the practice for in excess of 20 years for a second opinion and wished I had acted sooner.

Please avoid this vets at all costs. I was told my beloved King Charles cavaliers heart condition had deteriorated that much that there was nothing they could do for him, after my husband had taken him to the vets due to landing awkwardly on his leg after jumping up to get food. The vet that saw him was called Dana and she had no empathy whatsoever. She refused to look at his leg and kept telling my husband he’d gone off all legs due to his heart. Long story short after going to Connaught vets, my dog had sprained his leg and had a dislocated knee cap and had been in pain all night as island vets refused to look at his leg and give him any pain relief. Instead, she had given him an injection of ferusomide which is heart medication that he is already on in tablet form and tried to charge us almost £200 for ten days worth of tablets for another heart medication. This was without doing any tests or heart scans to see if his condition had worsened. I’m appalled at the care, or rather lack of that this vets provide. We were told he would be lucky to make it through the night. It has been almost five weeks now since this has happened and he is back to his normal happy self and all blood tests he had have come back clear. To think we could have had him put to sleep is unimaginable as we had discussed it after staying up all night that if they think that’s best then we would agree. After changing vets, it’s evident how much island vets are money oriented. Please consider going elsewhere. I emailed a complaint and was told I would get a response within 14 days and I have heard nothing since.
